The Brave Little State Video Recap
Tropical Storm Irene devastated towns throughout Vermont, leaving thousands displaced without electricity or access to clean water. After the storm made its way through Vermont, local artists and businesses came together to organize the Brave Little State – a benefit to serve the many victims of the recent flooding.
The event kicked off on September 23rd at Higher Ground Ballroom with local musicians Chamberlin, Rough Francis, The Wee Folkestra, The Amida Bourbon Project, DJ Disco Phantom and comedian Pat Lynch, who all generously donated their talents to this concert/silent auction/goods drive to support the ongoing flood relief efforts.
A special thanks to JDK/Iskraprints, Green Mountain Harley Davidson, Burton, Gardener’s Supply and A.M. Saddler Photography for contributing to the silent auction, and to everyone who donated goods. Organizers worked closely with the Vermont Food Bank and Youth Services Inc. of Brattleboro to ensure that all items collected were distributed to those most in need.
The event was made possible by 104.7 The Point, Seven Days, Higher Ground and OKAY!! OKAY!!. It generated over $2,000 and an overwhelming amount of clothing, toys and food. Watch the video above to see some highlights of the event.
Shwayze & Cisco Announce Breakoutband Remix contest
Shwayze & Cisco love to see how creative you guys can get, so they thought it would be dope to set up a Remix Contest with their pals at BreakoutBand and see what happens when they give you an opportunity for those musical juices to flow. If you haven’t heard of BreakoutBand yet, it’s a sick platform for laying down beats.
The rules: download the stems to You Could Be My Girl from their new album ISLAND IN THE SUN, and make a killer remix. After you’ve created your own version, release the tune on breakoutband.com so people can vote it up the charts. You’ll also be able to post your remixes or any questions about the contest on Shwayze & Cisco’s BreakoutBand page.
If you don’t have a BreakoutBand account yet, all you have to do is set one up at breakoutband.com (it’s free) and start making beats.
The contest begins Thursday, 9/22 and runs until Wednesday, 9/28 at 11pm EST / 8pm PST. There will be FIVE winners. The first place winner will get a video response from Shwayze & Cisco, your remix will go up on their blog/Facebook pages as a free download, and Cisco will play it live on Cisco’s House. You’ll also receive their new album – Island In The Sun - along with an assorted Bananabeat Records sticker pack and dope gear from their friends at Oakley and New Era.

The Brave Little State: A Flood Relief Benefit at Higher Ground on September 23, 2011
Higher Ground, Seven Days, 104.7 The Point and OKAY!! OKAY!! are pleased to present THE BRAVE LITTLE STATE in Ballroom on Friday, September 23rd at 7:30pm. Local musicians Chamberlin, Rough Francis, The Wee Folkestra, The Amida Bourbon Project, DJ Disco Phantom and comedian Pat Lynch have all generously donated their talents to this concert/silent auction/goods drive to support the ongoing flood relief efforts. The artists themselves are taking a hands-on approach to the fundraising efforts, coordinating with appropriate agencies and even transporting donated items to their recipients.
Organizers envision a strong goods-donation component to the event and have worked closely with the Vermont Food Bank and Youth Services Inc. of Brattleboro to ensure that all items collected will be distributed to those most in need. Patrons are asked to bring non-perishable food items; gently used, clean clothing; clean bedding; and basic household items and office supplies. Of especial need are children’s clothing and outerwear, new toys and stuffed animals. Soft goods have had to be disposed of due to mold, and many children are without toys. The weather is also growing colder, so bedding and outwear are becoming more important.
Donors for the silent auction include: JDK/Iskraprints, Green Mountain Harley Davidson, Burton, Gardener’s Supply, A.M. Saddler Photography, and more to be announced. Cash donations will be submitted to vt211.org; food donations to the Vermont Food Bank; clothing and children’s items to Youth Services Inc. of Brattleboro.

This is the last Island Wednesday! Island Wednesdays were created as a way to give updates on everything leading up to the release of Shwayze & Cisco’s upcoming album - Island In The Sun. The album comes out this Tuesday so this is the finale. Don’t worry, you’ll still hear from Shwayze & Cisco, just not as often.

ISLAND IN THE SUN COMES OUT NEXT TUESDAY
The album comes out next Tuesday, September 13th. Shwayze & Cisco are so psyched- there are 11 tracks on the album and they’ve got a few special guests on there including Nikko Gray, Kendrick Lamar, Sophie Stern, and of course Sky Blu from LMFAO. The album is streaming on iTunes and if you pre-order it there, you’ll have the music as soon as it’s available on Tuesday, PLUS the video for You Could Be My Girl and a digital album art booklet that was made by the same artist who did their cover art.
You can also grab the album in their store, if you pre-order it there you’ll instantly get the original version of Drunk Off Your Love and The W’s EP.
There are also a couple of bonus package options. There is only one Deluxe package left, that one includes limited edition Bananabeat x Oakley Frogskins with a signed, numbered card in the packaging.

Last night Shwayze & Cisco had a blast on FUEL TV’s Daily Habit with Pauly Shore, Chris Bauer from True Blood, and Ashley Rickards from the MTV show Awkward. This morning they made an appearance on KTLA for an interview, and rocked out with their title track from Island In the Sun.

For this week’s Island Wednesday Cisco’s got something special. He has some friends over at about.me and they just told him about this dope contest to get your face on a billboard in Times Square!
If you haven’t heard of about.me, it was created as a way to bring all of your online profiles like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube to just one place. Check out Cisco’s profile and then make your own so you can enter. The contest just kicked off, and goes until Tuesday, 9/20
HOW TO ENTER:
All you have to do is create an about.me profile page. Put up a picture, your name, a few words about yourself, and as many links to your Facebook, Twitter, blogs, and other sites as you want. Make sure to add “Bananabeater” to the headline or bio to qualify for a special prize pack from Bananabeat Records, New Era, and Oakley.
Once your profile is up and running, click the ‘Opt-in Now’ button in the top right corner of your profile. Then promote your page to your friends so they vote for you. All they need to do is go to your profile page and click vote (everyone gets one vote per profile per day).

They all get you the digital album on the day the album is released, but you’ll also get Drunk Off Your Love (feat Sky Blu of LMFAO) and The W’s EP as soon as you order. If you get the Premium package, you’ll also get one of the first Bananabeat x New Era 9FIFTY hats and some stickers. Shwayze & Cisco are hitting up the Northeast this week with Slightly Stoopid and Rebelution on Seedless Summer Tour. They’ll be rocking out at the Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ tonight! The guys said that the tour has been a blast so far.

Summer has been flying by over at Bananabeat Records. Shwayze & Cisco are currently on the Seedless Summer Tour with Slightly Stoopid and Rebelution. The guys said that every show so far has been tons of fun and everyone is digging the new material.
